Age of Empires, The Atlantic 1400-1800

“Atlantic Empires” focuses on the dramatic history of European colonization between 1492 and 1800, comparing the Portuguese, Spanish, French, English, and Dutch empires. Videos and readings will  deal with the reasons why Europeans set out to conquer the world and the societies forged through both violent and everyday interaction with Indigenous Americans and Africans, shaping the world we live in today.
