Kara joined the COGA team in 2023, following several years working in academic publishing. She grew up in Texas and received her BA from Baylor University, but has lived in Lawrence since completing an MA in Classics at KU in 2018. In her spare time, Kara enjoys baking, her houseplants, and playing board games.

The graduate program coordinator provides students equitable advising on program policy and requirements, campus resources and guidance on the logistics of their graduate degree from application to graduation. This includes admissions, enrollment, petitions, comprehensive/final exams, and graduation. They work closely with faculty on key processes and initiatives related to graduate education, develop written and online communications, and maintain student records for the departments.
