American Civil War War, 19th Century U.S., Public History.

Will Hickox earned an M.A. at KU, where he is studying the American Civil War as his major field with additional research in nineteenth-century United States history and public history. He is currently conducting research for a dissertation about military recruitment in New York State during the Civil War, tying together issues of political, military, social, and cultural history. Will has written for the New York Times and assisted in several public-history projects, including the Kansas City Public Library's award-winning website "Civil War on the Western Border" and an exhibit at the Watkins Museum of History in Lawrence, Kansas.
