Dissertation Title: "The Publishers are to Blame: The Memory of Frederick Funston and the Spanish-American War."


Jon Wells received his B.A. in Political Science (‘05) and his M.A. in History (‘07) from the University of Tulsa; he is currently working on his dissertation at the University of Kansas.  In 2004 he interned with the U.S. State Department in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he worked on the Haiti peace keeping operation and G-8 counter terrorism assistance.  From 2006-2008 he was an adjunct instructor for Tulsa Community College. Wells has taught at Allen County Community College since 2008, where he has served two terms as the President of the Faculty Senate. He currently serves as the President of the Allen Community College KNEA chapter, and is also in his second term as a city councilor for Ward 1 in Iola, KS.  His research/dissertation focuses on the memory of Frederick Funston and the Spanish-American War. He has presented papers at the KU-MU graduate research conference, the Tulsa United Nations Association, the Allen County Historical Society, and the Mid-West Association for Latin American Studies.
